Hello. Welcome to my site. Thanks for dropping by.

I am a fiction and nonfiction writer, currently at work on a collection of short stories. My current project deals with visual art, artists and museum workers. I am keenly interested in issues related to labor, art, power, and how we determine what in society is valuable.

My writing has appeared in over a dozen literary magazines, several anthologies, and has been honored with magazine awards as well as fellowships from The Somerville, MA Arts Council and The MacDowell Colony.

In 2008 I founded The Review Review, a website dedicated to reviews of literary magazines and interviews with journal editors. The site features a database of over 1,000 literary magazines and hundreds of articles about lit mag publishing. The Review Review was listed for seven years by Writer's Digest as one of 101 Best Websites for Writers.

Most recently, I created The Lit Mag News Roundup, a bi-weekly newsletter that aims to demystify the world of lit mag publishing. The newsletter features lots of lit mag news, publishing and job opportunities, and is meant to be a helpful and fun resource for writers and editors at all levels.

Since 2004 I have also been teaching fiction and nonfiction to kids, teens and adults. I currently teach online with Grub Street and Creative Nonfiction. I have also worked as a writing coach and manuscript consultant for writers at all stages of their projects and careers.

I grew up in Brooklyn, NY and now live with my family in Pittsburgh, PA.

Got a question about my work? About the Lit Mag News Roundup? About my consulting? Or just want to say Hello? Please don't hesitate to reach out.
