I am a fiction and nonfiction writer, creative writing instructor, consultant and editor.
My writing has appeared in over a dozen literary magazines, several anthologies, and has been honored with a number of magazine awards as well as fellowships from The Somerville, MA Arts Council and The MacDowell Colony.
In 2008 I founded The Review Review, a website dedicated to reviews of literary magazines and interviews with journal editors. The site featured a database of over 1,000 literary magazines and hundreds of articles about lit mag publishing. The Review Review was listed for seven years by Writer's Digest as one of 101 Best Websites for Writers. In 2019 I sold The Review Review to Gonzaga University, where it now operates as a teaching tool for students.
Most recently, I created The Lit Mag News Roundup, a bi-weekly newsletter that aims to demystify the world of lit mag publishing. The newsletter features the latest lit mag news and publishing and job opportunities, and is meant to be a helpful and inspiring resource for writers and editors.
Since 2004 I have been teaching fiction and nonfiction to kids, teens and adults, both in person and online. I have also worked as a writing coach and manuscript consultant for writers at all stages of their projects and careers.
I grew up in Brooklyn, NY and now live with my family in Philadelphia, PA.
